Stonewall Resort || Roanoke, West Virginia || Rachel & Jason || April 23, 2016

My opening wedding for the 2016 season was actually a home opener.  Basically, it took place right in my backyard.  Stonewall Resort is such a gorgeous venue, and I am so lucky to have it so close to home!   When Rachel contacted me about her wedding at Stonewall, I was thrilled to be starting my first wedding season there!!  Rachel and Jason had a very laid back, relaxed, and small wedding.  Just them and Rachel's two sons, Hudson and Regan.  Thirty guests joined them for their weekend in West Virginia to celebrate their marriage, and we all lucked out with the weather.  April in West Virginia can be so fickle, but last Saturday was down right perfect.

When I arrived Make Up Artist, Sarah Audia was busy getting Rachel flawless!

Regan was in charge of the rings and he did an excellent job!

Thanks to my second shooter, Eric Kinder for this awesome shot!

Hudson and Regan escorted mom down the aisle, and it was so sweet.  As a momma of a little boy, it absolutely melted my heart to watch.

During the ceremony, I noticed Rachel leaning over to hug Regan.  He was so happy for his mom that he just let the little tears roll.  When the wedding was all over and Rachel, Jason, Hudson, and Regan were having a few moments alone, I overheard Regan saying to Rachel "I'm just so happy!"  Helloooo....immediate tears from this photographer!

Watching the boys and Rachel was my favorite part of the day, and I loved capturing these sweet candid moments.

Stonewall Resort was a stunning backdrop for our bridal portraits!!!

Rachel and Jason with their guests sat down to a nice dinner immediately following the ceremony.

This cake topper will go down in LHP history.  When I arrived that day and began shooting the details, Rachel handed me this little Lego sculpture, all I knew was that it was going to be the cake topper.  Little did I know what a precious and sweet story was behind this creation.  As we were wrapping up the day, I was able to ask Rachel what the story was behind the Lego cake topper and her reply was that the night that she and Jason told her boys, Hudson and Regan, that they were engaged and going to get married, Hudson made this to represent his mom and Jason.  The one with the "red hair" being Rachel and the other, with the brown beard, being Jason.  He constructed them to be holding hands even.  I mean come on!!!  How utterly precious is that?!!!  He was so proud when we put it on the cake and I asked to get a shot of him with it!

It was truly a beautiful day for all of those involved and I am so thankful to have been a part of it!  Thank you Rachel, Jason, Hudson, Regan, and your sweet families for allowing me to witness your wedding day and capture the memories for a lifetime!
